Dartford is the main town in the borough of Dartford. These are placed within northerly west Kent in South East England.
These are placed around a vale across which the River Darent flows, and in which a old road from either London to Dover crossed: hence the title, from either Darent+ford. Although now these are mainly the commuter town it has a long history.
History
Early history

Industry
Iron-making on the Weald was in full operation at this instance, & cast-iron block of metal were sent to Dartford, to a mill install by an immigrant from either the Low Countries, Geoffrey Box. On text cast-iron rods were made.
An additional immigrant, a German known as Spielman, was allowed to install what was the 2nd papermill in England at Dartford in the eighteenth century; soon some 600 employees worked there, many themselves German.
